Extending and mounting shower from bath to wall...

Hello,

I have just bought my first property and getting through my to do list of repainting, repairs and adjustments. However, I've hit a roadblock - am no plumber!

In the master bathroom the shower is attached to the bath (see pic). I thought I would be a simple fix to the wall job, but when I went to pull it out fully, found that the flexible pipe that feeds the head / is hidden in the bath only extends to about 1 metre.

Any tips on where to go from here? I am hoping I can just buy an extension to the flexible pipe, but perhaps that's naïve.

Will be back at the property this afternoon so will take some more in depth pictures if useful.

The hose and handset is designed for handheld washing your hair whilst bathing, not for the use as a stand up head shower.
I am sure there are ways of extending the hose though.

The only difficulty with extending the hose is that the hole in the bath top where the hose fits can allow a significant amount of water through - most of this type that I've come across aren't designed to be used other than for hair rinsing

That's a point I wouldn't have thought of (until it happened!) so thank you. Asides that you think extending will be fine?

I've also been told I should be able to break the seal, remove the current pipe and just install a longer one (avoiding having a connection joining the two) - but a a bit scared to try and see what lies beneath, I don't want to break my bath!

Can't see any reason why you can't replace the existing hose with a longer one.

Remove the bath panel and check the connection - there might also be a weight clamped to the hose to pull it back when not in use.
