The buttons on A scacntronic 9448 control panel at my friends house is not working after a power failure. All power is restored and the power light is solid, but non of the buttons on the key pad will work so they cannot punch in the number. They opened the unit and it did not even alarm or tamper. All fuses are correct. Is the control unit completely broken and need replacing or has anybody had this before and fixed it.

Most common problems after a power cut is the backup battery and this can cause strange behavior.

your saying the systems illuminated, which means power is getting to the unit, so would suggest your fuses are okay, but the battery could be causing issues.

If your code or the default codes dont work, i would look at replacing the panels back up battery, sometimes just disconnecting the battery and running on mains only will allow you access via the keypad, indicating the battery needs replacing.

If you are still having issues then post more detail on whats happening after you've looked at the battery.

Down power and re power mains first it's probably stuck/ locked out . If the code does not work try 1234 as it may have defaulted to factory set.

Battery fine power fine. The buttons on panel are not working at all. But can't understand why tamper isn't alarming when open.

Did you remove battery when you powered it down ? Is it a 9448 (3 zone) or a 9448 + or style ? Last resort power up with nvm pins shorted for a full reset.

:D

"Battery fine" how do you know?

Thanks too all replies bye the way. Sorry for not saying much appreciated sooner.

Battery tester showed 13.9 v .

A healthy battery.

Voltage is no indication that there is any capacity available, in the same way
that fumes smelt in your fuel tank is no indication that petrol exists!
