heating small farm shop

You don't want an expensive item like a condensing unit located in a livestock facility.
You'll have ammonia fumes casing serious corrosion and dust causing all sorts of problems.
The external surfaces of the finned tubes on air-cooled condensers are very prone to fouling from pollen, dust, insects, leaves, etc. Not only is the air flow affected but also the heat transfer coefficient and the deterioration in performance increasing unit operating costs.

And the service engineer refusing to work on it as the bull has him eyed up for a goring.

Are you for real Norcon??!! Ammonia fumes & dust?? FFS you wouldn't site them in with the cows!! I've fitted one in a livestock shed for an Estate office 4 years ago & it works a treat. Do you sit in front of your laptop & dream up problems??........

Do you service it every year keeping the condenser clean? Once the grime builds up the efficiency drops like a stone.
You'd be complete nuts to fit one of these units in a cow shed.
You'd be better sticking to tap washers.

Airsource works well in a retail outlet.... The purpose of having them serviced is to remove the dust, pollen and seeds that they can suck in... As already stated they will cool in the summer so that the shop doors can be kept closed to help keep flies out..

Ignore Norcon....He needs watering every few days to prevent him from wilting

I agree but not with the condenser stuck in a cow shed as you and mr puller has suggested.

A good installer such as Mr Bartlett can advise on a suitable location.

thanks for all the replys lads ,seems like theres a few options ,in the main customers will have thier winter clobber on as one of you suggested, do you think a wood burner would be a good option ? the shop will be 25 m long by about 10m wide with no ceiling

thanks

What will you be selling?

Something from this line up might be suitable...

I have one of these in my workshop...

Sized enough to just remove the chill from the air. It can lift the temp from zero to about 12c.
Your floor area is about 3 times larger.

My local hardware store re built a few years ago. Probably about 5-6 times larger than your floor space.
They used similar units to the aquamatics. About four of them in around the staff areas which are heated via a large biomass boiler.

They sell stoves also and in winter they have a show piece stove fired up every day.

Another hardware store just uses one of these...
