Help to identify heating/hot water controls

Just moved to a new house and can't identify heating/hot water timer. The name has either rubbed off or was on the flap that's now missing on the right hand side. Does anyone recognise it from the attached picture?

Also wanted advise on a suitable (easy to fit) replacement that's a bit more up to date and can operate hot water and heating separately.

I take it you can have hot water on, by itself; but you cannot have heating on, by itself, you have to have hot water on at the same time.

If that is correct, the programmer is not the cause: it's the system. You have a "pumped heating, gravity hot water" system.

No, I think I can put both heating and hot water on by themselves. Which I think you can see from the picture? So far I have had the hot water on by itself, but heating on with hot water. What I was hoping to do was to have both on, but as it gets colder the hot water won't need to be on for as long as the heating. I may well be wrong in thinking this would be possible and welcome advice.

That programmer do hot water or heating or both at same time.

Going to need some more information, some pictures of the Hot water cylinder and connecting pipework would help, but as said, if you are in possession of an older type system, with gravity hot water/pumped central heating, it is not possible to have the heating on without the hot water. You can have hot water only, but central heating will not operate without the hot water also being on!

You say "think", which suggests you are not 100% certain. So let's test it.
(I'm assuming both slider switches are at Twice)

1. Move the top (HW) slider to the left to OFF.

Q1. Does the bottom (CH) slider also move to OFF?

If Yes:

2. Move top (HW) slider to Twice

The CH slider should stay at OFF

3. Move CH slider to Constant

Q2. Does the HW move to Constant?

If Yes, then you have a "gravity HW, pumped heating system", which will have to be modified if you want to have CH and HW on completely separate times.

If the answer to both questions is No, then you will be able to change just the timer.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. First time I've used the sight and now I know what I'm dealing with! I can operated heating and hot water independently, so should be able to just swap the timer......seem to be plenty that are compatible and easy to switch (fingers crossed).

Is your wall thermostat (usually in hall or living room) the dial type which clicks when turned up and down? If so, it's probably as old as the timer, so it might be worth replacing it at the same time with a digital thermostat, which will give better control over the heating.
