Hi All,

The dishwasher switch on this grid is broken and as you can see, the whole thing is in a pretty poor state. Anyone recognise it / know if I can replace the whole thing with MK stuff from Screwfix?

Thanks!

Whatever it is will be obsolete now. You can find out the maker by (turn power off first) removing the grid, the maker etc is usually on the back of the switches.

But yes, you could replace the whole shebang with MK, standard grid stuff,.but you'll need the whole shooting match (switches, grid plates, front plate, etc.) You can get ready engraved switches in many ranges.

Yes, aware of what I would need to purchase in order to replace it, thanks.

There is no indication of manufacturer on any of the switches, faceplate etc - Hence my post here.

Agreed - but we are speaking with 2015 eyes and expectations. When it was made, it was probably regarded as the height of desirability!

Kind Regards, John

I've hated it since we moved in, dont know why I didnt replace it when I did all the other sockets & switches. Glad its broken really!

Right, thought I knew what I needed to buy to replace this but when it comes to the switches i want to make sure I get it right first time . . . Assume I need 5 x 'MK 1-Way 20A SP Grid Switch' but what about the fuse holder? is it required? Is it linked to the switches? Thanks all.

It would be normal, and probably advisable, to use DP switches. You ought to check that your hob (and maybe even your oven) don't (can't) draw more than 20A, since otherwise 20A switches would not be suitable for that (and you'd be hard pressed to find anything larger than 20A - I suspect that's why I don't recall ever having seen a hob {and have rarely seen an oven} controlled by a grid switch!) You'd again have to check, but I would assume that the fuse is associated with the extractor switch, and that it is required.

Kind Regards, John

Thanks John, quite right the fuse holder is for the extractor switch! Will go for DP switches, cost difference is minimal anyway.
