Wago connector prices

All the kits cost more than the sum of the parts. OK - you could argue that you're paying for the organiser case, but the same price premium applies to the basic kit that comes in a cardboard box.

What am I missing?

More likely the latter, assuming (probably correctly), that most people will just expect the selection to be cheaper, and not add up the prices of 20 of those, 40 of these, etc.

I expect thats probably true.

When doing pigs in blankets for Christmas dinner, streaky bacon was traditionally used because it was cheaper... there was one Christmas only a handful of years ago where this ceased to be the case (in just about all the main supermarkets) with the expectation that it would still sell because that's what folk would have on their list....

I'm not sure it actually worked, because I dont believe it was the same the next year.

Well, that and the fact that it's the only cut which is any good for that.

Anyway - streaky bacon isn't what it used to be - much more meat and much less fat these days, which makes it pigging useless for barding.

Didnt do the maths, but as the lever ones are 30-40 p each and the kit has 100 of them as well as 140 normal ones, the kits look better value, or is it me missing something now

You're missing what you discover when you do do the maths. For example the kit contains only 20 of the 44p ones, the other 80 are about half that.

It's not a huge premium, e.g. at QVS the kit is £51.54, and the contents cost £47.70. I guess if you need the organiser case it's not a bad deal.

I don't normally obsess over prices like that (I buy ready-made pigs in blankets at Christmas, for example, as life is too short etc), but I looked at the inventory, and thought "am I ever going to need all those 5-lever ones, or all those 6- and 8-hole push ones?" So, expecting the kit to be cheaper, I thought "well lets just see how little extra I'd pay to get all those compared to buying my own selection". I was soon surprised. And I don't need the organiser case.

Not for the "Installer Box Basic" kit from TLC; Kit costs £12.85 but all the connectors individually would cost £17.81 (I halved the price for connectors where only 5 are supplied in the kit but are only sold individually in multiples of 10's.)

Anyway - at least it all means that I can just buy a few bags of the ones I'm likely to need and not have to decide if a selection box might be worth it.
