Moving telephone wire coming into house.

How easy is it to move the wire which comes into your house?

Currently it comes into the back bedroom, but i want it to come into my office.

This will involve disconnecting the wire from the box in the bedroom and cutting it to length and then feeding it through a new hole in the wall into my office.

All that bit is easy for me. The bit i am not sure about is wiring the cable up again to fit onto the connector. Is it easy ? Are the wires in the cable colour coordinated like in a plug ?

It's easy enough to do if the dropwire is to be shortened in the process, but you should be aware that everything up to the NTE (master jack) is the property of BT/OpenReach, and you're not really supposed to change anything yourself.

Ok. We have the wire coming into the house wall from the pole on the street. This feeds into a black box on the wall. From there a cable runs to the back of the house, which is the cable for the master socket in the house. So it sounds like this cable is actually mine.

I have read about the colours for the wires now, i think there are just two wires to be concerned about. Is this correct ?

On the outside of the house? It may just be a junction box, but there's a possibility it's something else, such as a DACS unit (allows two users to share the same pair of wires back to the exchange). It won't be DACS if you have DSL on the line.

No, everything prior to the NTE (Network Terminating Equipment - the master jack where you have the removable panel for extension wiring, assuming the installation isn't older than that) belongs to BT.

As far as a regular telephone line is concerned, yes. If it's external dropwire coming directly into the master, the line is usually on orange & white (green & black are spare, any multiple red or yellow wires are just steel strenghteners). If not, then it will usually be on the blue/white pair, or for older cable the orange & blue.

Either way, if you look inside the NTE you'll see two wires connected to the A & B terminals. They are the ones carrying the line.
