Bought motorcycle cargo kevlar trousers (plain black) off ebay for biking, about £40, but now I use them everyday for work!
Got double pockets on thigh, also keeping me warm in the cold.

Get a pair of scissors. No reason why you cannot keep the pockets and also have as much ventilation as you want (or until you are put on a register, whichever happens first )

I swear by these. Light enough not to sweat you bag off in summer and strong enough not to tear at every given opportunity. Comfortable too.

Well, I've ended up buying some Dickies WD803. The pockets are slightly shallower than I would like but they will do.

They were £30 for two pairs as well and seem well made.

The way that many Eighties onesies were made, including Rodeo from C&A (Remember them?) meant that the two front inset handwarmer pocket bags naturally hung down in front of your private area by default, I remember having coins in the lower front inset pockets, and the coins would have struck against my crotch area whenever I walked quickly or ran!!
