Which Sliding mitre saw question Again... Sorry

Hi all

Yes I know, I've done the search function and a lot of the posts that pop up are quite old in technology, where mitre saw updates are concerned.

I'm wanting to buy a sliding mitre saw for DIY only, I'm due to fit new skirting and architrave over the next week or so and have a project I want to u dertake in the summer months, building a garden bench with a sun shade (like a pagoda with a seat basically) plus other DIY stuff I'm considering.

I don't want to buy cheap and buy twice yet do not want to buy above my abilities
Budget is £100 - £400 and this seems to cover quite a large range.

There are a couple of combo offers, whereby the table/stand is included.

There's no point hiring one as it would be an ongoing project and time would be lengthy between start & finish.

These are a couple I have considered but I'm open to your professional opinion

I'm an amateur, and bought one of these on recommendation.

I've used it to build a large single storey timber frame structure, including cutting 7x3 joists, and sundry other tasks. No complaints, and I've had that much use out of it that I need to change the blade.

I also bought the evolution rage 3, got the one that extends the furthest so i could cut 6x2 and more. im a diy'er and its served my purposes, happily used it to cut wood beams, skirting, waste and water plastic pipes, copper pipes, aluminium profiles, and many other things. its probably not as precise as something that costs 2 - 4 times as much, but im not sure it matters for the kind of things im building with it. probably my most used piece of kit after my impact driver and drill. Laser is accurate so easy to make cuts in the right places, and can be mounted on a stand although i dont have one of those and probably should.

Another happy evolution user here. Not super precise out of the box but close enough for DIY work, although you can do precise cuts with it with a bit of tinkering. Mine has had a lot of use and abuse and still cuts well.

Tho Bosch you link to up there is 110V, is that what you want?

The 110v doesn't phase me, pardon the pun as my father has a transformer.

i bought the following Evolution RAGE3-S300 210mm Multipurpose Sliding Mitre Saw 230v for £159.98 i think the 210mm was the furthest throw one they did

I think mine was from Screwfix. They had a good price on the 110v, and I had access to a transformer.

Actually it's £49.99 as I misread the flyer so not a bad price if it's a good bench

It's the price showing on their website for the 210mm. The 255mm is listed at £149.99.

Have a look at the maximum sizes each will cut and decide which best meets your needs.

For what it's worth, the bigger saw is also more powerful (2000W vs 1500W)

I popped into screwfix this evening and purchased the Rage3 £99 version.

It'll hopefully be more than good enough for my DIY skills

How did you find this saw. Just looking into these today and not sure what to get. Would you recommend it
