Will a beige throw dye transfer onto a beige/cream pattered sofa?

Its 100% polyester and says to not use on lighter fabrics but the sofa is probably a similar shade, maybe a slight shade lighter.

James, for a reason best known to himself, my son decided that, because he thought that three pairs of black jeans were losing the 'jet' factor, he would dye them. He did, and although the jeans did indeed turn out to be 'jet black', so did the washing machine! I am now awaiting advice from the dye manufacturers as to how we can restore our washing machine to it's pre- dye condition.

James, just give it a wash before you put it on the sofa - most colour that will come out will come out within a few washes.

Shutpa, try a bit of bleach in the drum (not too much as will bubble lots), stick the machine on a hot wash. When it's finished, put it on another cycle with clean water and your machine should be ok to use. I used to dye a lot using mum's machine when I was a kid and no problems were had :)

Can you not try a test piece on an inconspicuous part of the sofa, such as around the back?
