back garden hasn't had much TLC, been to busy in the house, I had some big weeds spoke to a bloke in a garden centre he recommended Roundup, which got rid of the weeds but destroyed the grass around it, put some new seeds down a couple of weeks ago, been watering the grass around the same time every morning

What do I need to do/buy to get rid of those clover looking weeds, and bring my grass back to looking thick and green

You can get hormone lawn weedkillers, which kill broad-leaved weeds but not the grass. I'd do that before starting to feed it, although you can get weed-and-feed products if expense is no concern. Read the instructions carefully.

Start by mowing it regularly, few weeds can withstand being chopped off before they can grow proper leaves. If it is growing properly, it will spread into bare patches.

Very often lawns are too wet. Are you on a clay soil, and is the ground wet and compressed?

Spot-action weedkiller is strong enough to kill grass so I'd use it just for that - spot treatment. Otherwise you might be better off with a weedkiller that you can mix into a watering can and cover the lawn with. TBH that looks like a small lawn and a single container of Evergreen 4-in-1 (with the spout built into the handle) should easily cover it.

Weedol, aka Verdone, is exactly what you need. One annual application kills broadleaved plants but leaves the grass alone. The person who told you to buy Roundup was a numpty, as glyphosate will kill everything green.

But not just Weedol which they now seem to use as a trade name for a range of weedkillers, some of which will kill the grass

Yes, I use Verdone liquid too. For best cover and evenness, I prefer to water-on two half treatments, one up and down the lawn, one from side to side.

Please don't do this! Overdosing grass with verdone can easily kill the grass too.
