Hello
I have a question about the soil pipe I need to redirect so our extension can be built. Currently, the soil pipe carries only the toilet waste out the back of the pan and straight down the back of the house; an external durgo sits on top. The bath & basin and downstairs kitchen wastes all exit into a separate drain.

I would like to move the soil stack inside the house so it runs horizontally from the upstairs toilet and into the corner (about 2metres), then verticaly down the wall in the corner, and about 2metres horizontally back into the kitchen (which will eventually become the downstairs toilet once the extension is complete) to collect the sink, d/w and w/m waste, then out through the wall and into the drains.

I plan to add an internal durgo upstairs next to the loo and an air inlet valve to the bathroom sink waste to avoid any vacuum from flushing.

I think I've attached a (rubbish) sketch; do you think this would be ok?

Many thanks for your comments.

No - bends in the wet section are a no-no. You need to plan the run so that you have a vertical stack pipe into a rest bend with lateral joins for your various appliances.

In your plan, the stack would be on the right (with an AAV at the top of the stack at least 300 mm higher than the over-spill level of the bathroom basin). Ideally the basin and bath should enter the stack on a waste pipe separate from the WC pan. If not possible then the bath & basin should have anti-vac traps and be piped in 50 mm waste.

Thanks for your reply Newboy; so should the bath and basin wastes enter the soil pipe higher than the loo enters it, or does that not matter?
