Are hilmor pipe benders still good/ the best available?

Look at Benditnow benders they took over supplying Hilmore when the Hilmore`s quality went pearshaped a few years back.

Can any of you upload a picture of your old benders. My old hilmors are 8 years old was abit worried they were getting abit tatty

"Tatty"??...not really an issue if it pulls bends without creasing the throat.

You'll tend to get throating when the former's worn or when pulling the bend too quickly and the pipe moves and ripples on the inside of the bend, a worn guide tends to 'nip' the edge. If used a lot and they are worn then you will be able to replace the guides and formers and hook/bolt.

Only threw away one pair when the bolt hole for the hook elongated.

Mine must be about 30years old.
As said don't know about the new ones. I did buy a cheapo one from Screwflux as a standby. It's OK for the odd bend.
Just waiting on my new baby; Bahco 600-15!!!

Question; why does the crimpers not bend?? All these Gay photos of crimp fittings & no formed bends??!!

Mine are 1978 vintage, a spray with wd or similar before starting and clean the guide/former still good as ever, also have a really old stand bender which goes up to 42mm I bought it from an old retired plumber who bought it new when we went metric, bloody foooking heavy, I am now retired so if anyone is interested let me know, buyer collects as its a monster!

God I bought mine in 1969 does that make me feel old they are record and believe it or not they are as good as new god have they earned me some dosh I also have a sweeping brush I've had that for the same time only had 4 heads and 3 shafts good as new
