Just thought i'd query the masses about what i am about to do, in case anyone thinks I've missed something or going down the wrong avenue.
I'm looking to get a 210l or higher unvented indirect cylinder in replacement for a old gravity fed system.
Boiler is ok 10 yr old glowworm, serviced regularly, but pressure of hot around the house is almost non-existent and all upstairs cold fed from header tank.
it's a large 4 bed house with two bathrooms upstairs and a WC downstairs. util room (washing machine etc) and kitchen (dishwasher+ sink etc)
Boiler and current cylinder is located in airing cupboard upstairs with the gap between the boiler and the far wall of 500mm,
I have my plumber currently re running all downstairs rad pipes through the ceiling. as the builders of this house decided to run loads of pipe work in the concrete'd floor, as as such have heard from neighbors that pipes have gone.. and cost allot to fix, so i thought i'd get him to sort the cylinder out whilst he has the floors up/roof down
I have good mains water pressure in 5bar on a 15mm pipe, which when we switch to 22mm it will drop but should still be sufficient.
my questions for the masses are as follows...

  • i need a slimline cylinder ( due to the 500mm gap) and can only find two models that fit the bill
https://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/fabdec-excelsior-slimline-indirect-unvented-cylinders/
and
https://www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/...t-water-storage-cylinder-and-kit#.V-JwOCgrLDc

does any plumbers out there have any experience with either of these brands/cylinders?
as in which do they prefer?

  • i'm also thinking about a water conditioner at source mains... ( would that effect the pressure of the water into the house?
Many Thanks
Mark

Most manf will do a slimline 460mm indirect cylinder, remember the slimmer the cylinder the taller it will be.
RM, Joule both do slimlines

Joule always.

You are such a training whore Dan, go on a course one week, 'always Joule' the next. Did they give you a pen and pencil.

Nope... Nice pizza though.

To be fair I've fitted a few prior to training (which was actually on the Samsung heat pumps. :p).

Have a custom one sitting in my merchants that was supposed to go in my house in the summer, but I never had the time.
