viessmann annual service and plumber costs

I have to say that I would top up inhibitor using the Magnaclean and not charge anything significant extra for doing that as it only takes a couple of minutes when cleaning the filter anyway.

I don't understand what he did "poking a tube" into the boiler! It was obviously not as simple as that. But an odd way when there is a Magnaclean available.

Sorry my older post reads slightly confusing, the two things were separate. The tube mentioned was just bleeding the system from a valve over the heat exchanger after completing the work and opening up a bottle. Just a way to emphasise no significant extra work to service was involved. I can see how this cause some confusion, the use of "inject" in other posts was wrong use of words, I was looking at injecting inhibitor solutions at the time:)

Are you going to ask for a refund? Let us know how you get on.

Can't see why it needs more inhibitor after 2 years.
Can't comment on price as I don't know the usual costs down that way but he should t be putting in inhibitor without permission first if charging extortionate money for the privilege (inhibitor not service)

On another note, as vc brought up, as a Viessmann trained installer, he should know they don't recommend inhibitor in their boilers.

We will await the crunchy hoses post in a year or two....

You should nurture and look after your engineer carefully, he sounds a good bloke at a reasonable cost, his mistake is not telling you about extra cost, i agree with that, if hes like me we choose our customers , some people (you maybe?) think you choose your engineer? Be very careful mate he may dump you and then you are in the pool of trying to find someone decent

What bunnyman says is dead right you don't pick your engineer,we pick you,we come to do a service or another small job and we weigh you up and make an assumption of what sort of a customer you are.If you're ok talk to us ok then odds are we will come again when asked but if you're awkward and cut us short shrift then when you want us again we will be too busy.As most of us work for ourselves then we can take our pick,If we are any good we will always have plenty of work,so I'm afraid there you have it warts and all.

Can I verify this from a Viessmann source/link?

My service manual doesn't mention anything about use of inhibitor, but the US manual for the same boiler suggests to add inhibitor which is rather confusing...o_O

Also what do you mean by crunchy hoses?

something your lovely boiler suffers from and no don't start squeezing anything or else your arm will start disappearing into your pocket :)

The boiler has a warranty, if anyone's arm will disappear in their pocket it will be the plumber's

If you're ok talk to us ok then odds are we will come again when asked but if you're awkward.

...and by awkward I suppose you mean no questions asked when you invoice!?

I wonder how much further my post is going to be denigrated for daring to check on the quantifiable element involving a plumber's service. Is this a DIY forum or a plumber's club?

If you think you've been ripped off, ask your plumber for a refund. I'm a DIYer , not a plumber. Sometimes you have to accept that the amount of money you're arguing over is too small to bother about. As I said, let us know the plumber's response

Hahah who rattled your cage? and why do you care so much about what the plumber thinks?

So you think this entire thread was about a refund...:ROFLMAO:

It seemed that way!

He did a good job and you were happy with it.

But you had a nagging feeling you we're overcharged and decided to ask about it here.
