I got mine as grey imports cheap from Ebay but the likes of Amazon sell a large range of genuine stock with good customer service if needed.

MAP security is probably your best option outside the main 4 as others have rated this supplier.

I too got all of my Hikvision cameras from eBay (shipped from China). They all work flawlessly and connect to the mobile app with ease. One thing sellers have all stated on their listing is to not update firmware, which is something to bear in mind. However, for the cost saving I've had no issues with them; all work sound, connect to iSpy and X-Protect on server, connect via browser and also mobile apps.

Saying all of that, I purchased them nearly two years ago when exchange rates were really good. It's best to shop around and speak to owners to see what their experiences are.

If you want 5 decent Hikvision IP cams, CAT5/6 cable reel and a decent POE Network NVR you'll not have much change from £950. Fitting IP cams is dead easy and I fitted mine myself with no prior experience. I used a POE switch instead of a dedicated NVR for cost (doing house up at the time). The beauty of IP cams is that you can run a single cable to where ever you want the cam and buy it later to connect up. Again this is what I did for cost. Slowly over the last couple of years I have been buying cams and now I have 4 in total with another one on the cards soon.

Connect NVR to your router. Run 'x number of' cables from your NVR to each cam and connect them up. It really is that simple with modern IP cams.
I read loads of forums and worked out the XProtect free was pretty good software to use for free. Because you want 5 cams you will need a more expensive NVR too so bare that in mind also.

I'll have a stab at saying someone would want a few hundred to install and setup?

If i have a dedicated POE NVR, is there a way for me to later on patch a camera anywhere on my LAN or does it have to go directly to my NVR?

My bad, I thought logically to use Poe.. you would have to go directly to the Nvr.

It can go on the network anywhere if powered locally or if you use a POE injector
