Is it a simple shape? If you can measure its volume then you can work out the weight from the density of iron (assuming it's not hollow).

well get the buyer to collect,its the only way. just measure it, plenty of photos and get the buyer to collect. so no postage is needed.

and do it as cash on collection - not paypal...in fact just put it on Gumtree as there's no fees!

When I moved into a new premises once, there was an unused anvil and stand left there. I didn't want it so I was going to scrap it but I thought I'd try it on eBay first to save me the aggro of taking it to a scrap yard. It went for £325!! It had the weight on it in imperial and metric which made it a bit of a collectors item apparently. Have a look on the 'net - there's a few specialist anvil forums on there, believe it or not.
