When it is dry the algae will die and start to weather away. soluble mineral salts will come out of the wall and leave white deposits on the brick. Don't try to wash them off, they will just soak back into the brickwork. they will also weather away over time.
If the surveyor has seen it and is happy that it's just surface damp and the pointing is intact then shouldn't be an issue. Just have it mentioned in the survey report and then you're covered. It will dry up eventually. Depending on the mortar and brick condition there might not be any mineral staining/leaching and the mould/algae can be jet washed as phil mentions.
