Adjusting Router Height Above the table

Hello,

I previously made my own router table from some help from people off here (Thanks Again!). However the perspex has scratched away at the wood from the vibration and has caused it to sag and now I don't have a level surface. I did find that it was a bit of a problem to change the height continually taking it out and putting it back in again was a nightmare.

Is there a way of adjusting the DW622K from above the table? If so how would this be done?

Don't think it can be done on that particular model.
Some people just set a scissor jack under the router to act as a lift.
As long as it doesn't interfere with air flow though.

DeWalt do sell a fine height adjuster for the DW621/DW622 which replaces the depth flag assembly on the left hand side of the router. Part ref. DW6956. Mine cost about £18 from Fixit Power Tools in Colwyn Bay a few years back

More a case of wrong router.
For £70 quid less you could have had the Triton TRA001 2400W Dual Mode Precision Plunge Router which is fitted with a rack and pinion for precision adjustment and fully adjustable from above the table.

@JobAndKnock thanks so I would just need to purchase the DW6956 and this would allow the adjustment from above the table? I presume it comes with instructions on how to install it?

More a case of wrong router.

For above table use, though, the Triton is tippy, top-heavy and has very second rate dust extraction

No. The adjustment would be from below the table. AFAIK only the Triton, Trend T11 and Bosch GMF600 allow above table depth adjustment - but from memory that wasn't in your original requirements, was it? The DW6956 is substituted for the depth stop flag/adjuster and screws onto the longets threaded rod on the turret. TBH if you are doing a lot of changes it will probably be a bit slow and Foxhole's suggestion of a scissor-type car jack makes sense. Cheap, too. I use the DW6956 more for precision depth adjustment when working freehand, or for precision adjustments when doing longish runs in the router table

i have a hitachi m12v under a table i removed the plunge springs this reduces the load required to lift the router by about 55% i then attached an elastic straps[bungee cord] to neutralize the weight
so fine adjustment is quite easy if not a bit awkward reaching under for the plunge lock

It wasn't part of my original specification your correct but as I have been using it I have found its a tad fiddly to keep taking it out and back in which is what prompted my question.

I will have a look at getting a cheap car jack for this purpose and see what happens.
