Are they a bit insane? Let's park whether or not it's man made, but it is happening quickly now. Why argue about whose fault it is while the ship's sinking FFS! Mother nature will look after herself whether we as humans are part of that on going story is an entirely different matter.

I agree with climate change - that's damned obvious - but I'm not convinced it's man made. But the global warming bunch insist they are the same, and both man made. The problem, is that because they INSIST it's man made, they only look at one way to deal with it, and in shutting down the debate, then no one looks for the real cause - if there is one.

And I agree, mother nature will happily handle what we throw at her, we just may not like what she does.

Thing is, with "Climate Change" , they'll still keep having conferences about it, till the cows come home,,, and these experts will still fly, half way around the world to attend these conferences, instead of sitting at home or in their office joining in a video conference call... Probably zero, but they reduce the amount of electricity needed to pump water in the land drainage system.

First of all, we know that it is caused by us, due to the rise in fossil fuel carbon (different isotope to carbon from organic sources), but there are other reasons:

The first four pieces of evidence show that humans are raising CO2 levels:

1. Humans are currently emitting around 30 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
2. Oxygen levels are falling as if carbon is being burned to create carbon dioxide.
3. Fossil carbon is building up in the atmosphere. (We know this because the two types of carbon have different chemical properties.)
4. Corals show that fossil carbon has recently risen sharply.

Another two observations show that CO2 is trapping more heat:

1. Satellites measure less heat escaping to space at the precise wavelengths which CO2 absorbs.
2. Surface measurements find this heat is returning to Earth to warm the surface.

But the idea that debate is shut down is also wrong. Its just that those who disagree are lacking in evidence. There are even those that disagree in the IPCC. Like most scientific communities, opposing evidence is not quashed, but examined. Yes there are pieces of evidence that will appear to contradict AGW, but the balance of evidence still points to us being the cause.

No. It's not an argument. It's a serious question. If fossil fuel being burnt is the cause of climate change now, what was the cause for the first few billion years?
