Ceiling help!

Heres some pictures so you can see my issue.

The cables will fit within the thickness of the existing board. Just board the ceiling again, stagger the joints with the existing boards.

Get a battery drill.
Use 60mm plasterboard screws. You can also get a special screwdriver bit for plasterboard screws which stops you screwing them in too far.
Get a mate to hold the other end of the boards as you fit them.

If plasterboarding, have a mate help and knock up a pair of these. They take a lot of the effort out and allow time for good joins.

Personally I would drill each joist using either a long drill bit to get the angle, or a stubby right angle drill, by lifting the floor above.

So long as you aren't colour blind then matching like for like is simple.
Or once the donkey work is done pay an electrician to cable and connect.

It must be very small indeed if there only two joists above the room. Joists are typically 400 or 600mm spacing.
