Led driver

I see similar a lot on top of Led shop displays made up in uk, though they have a plastic end cover that screws on over the exposed connections

416.2.2 is not making the RCD trip.
Or did you forget the purpose of this thread?
No, and no.

Let's try again:
  1. something like this MUST be in an enclosure, it is not an option!
  2. I see similar a lot on top of Led shop displays made up in uk, though they have a plastic end cover that screws on over the exposed connections
  3. And re the IP rating of the case?
  4. Why does the IP rating have any significance?

No, and no.

Let's try again:
Never thought about it to be honest, do you mean with regards all the holes letting dust etc in it..
They do run hot so not sure what enclosure would be suitable, designed and built by shopfitters rather than someone who knows what there doing i suppose

Sorry, not sure where the quoted bits gone

No - with regards to all the holes letting in poky things that contact live parts.

Should be IPXXD/IPX4.

Should be IPXXD/IP4X.

Maybe should have a fan. Oh, no, wait - that would mean doing it properly and would cost more.

One containing a larger bit of equipment powered by that as an internal supply. Maybe containing fan(s). That's what it is made for.

It isn't a PC PSU, but you get the idea - think of the relative size of a PC case and its PSU.

That could well be the case but, to be fair, it's not impossible that it has been designed so that no 'live parts' (other than those 'live' at ELV) can be touched by poking things through those holes.

But what about the input terminals?
Bas was replying to my post, as I said have seen similar with covers over the Input terminals, so he was now only really refering to the maincase.
It all got a bit off track earlier

But what about the input terminals?
As Rocky has said, we (as started by BAS) were only talking about contents of the box, assuming that the input terminals were, when in use, supplied with a cover.

I have a few like that in my 'cupboard' (with terminal covers), so I might sacrifice one to a can opener and see what goes on inside the 'box of holes'!

Kind Regards, John
