So I'll keep it short and sweet, I'm thinking of buying some cheap farming/grazing land as I'm wanting to build a workshop/barn. I have been told that planning consent is not needed in some cases if you keep animals, horses etc. I work as a traditional builder and would want to build a wooden clad barn. I have no intention of making it habitable and would sheers you want it for working etc. If you guys could shed some light on this is would be great

If you had left out the first sentence, it would have been shorter, and sweeter. :( I don’t know what ‘would sheers you’ means

I meant to write " it would sheerly be used for working ( woodwork, mechanics, storage etc )

There is a general permitted development right to build a building for agricultural use. The land must be agricultural, and the building must be related to the use of the land and there are other conditions too. There might be a prior notification procedure for certain areas.

You have to prove you are running an agriculture business and making enough money for it to be reasonable that its necessary for the business.
