Hi,

I am in the process of fitting a vertical 3 bar traditional column radiator. The radiator has stickers on stating front, back and also near where the valves go: inlet and outlet.

The problem is that my TRV inlet is on the right hand side which means if I followed the stickers the front would actually be the back! Does that make sense? It all looks symmetrical to me, not sure why the stickers are even there?

This is the radiator

It will probably have a baffle inside to force the water to circulate properly. This requires the inlet and out let to be connected to the system's flow and return correctly (flow in, return out). If you fit the radiator other than as in the manufacturer's instructions it probably won't heat correctly.

Most modern TRVs are bi-directional, and should work correctly whether on the flow or return side of the radiator.

of course it matters with that radiator, as @oldbuffer says that radiator will have a baffle and the flow and return must be the correct way around or it wont work, the TRV isnt necessarily on the flow, before you disconnect the existing radiator turn the heating on and see which side heats up first and that is the flow.

Flow direction is critical, as stated above.

How are you fixing it to the wall? If "front" and "back" are identical and the fixings allow it then no problem in turning it round to match your install.
