Anyone help us out here.

Ceiling had a leak, I have replaced the Plasterboard but it doesn't match up with existing plasterboard :(

Gap is this at the most.

Solutions please?

Final thing, how do I get the same texture on the new part? old had like a raised speckly paint texture.

p.s I really don't want to tear down more ceiling, what a messy job that is respect to you all who do this daily.

Thanks.

I take it no one knows! I'll rip the rest down then and hopefully that will sort it.

If anyone can help with the ceiling texture match please feel free...

The gap would fill up if you were to cut out a little bit more plaster board, put some timber noggins above the plasterboard, then cut and fit a plaster board PATCH, fix it in place with screws, then tape over it.
BUT,,, the biggest problem you'll have though, is to match the old texture,,, IMPOSSIBLE,, you'll always notice it as a patch. If you're considering to RIP the ceiling down, then think again. It would be just as easy and far less messy, to overboard the old ceiling. Once it's overboarded, get it taped or skimmed, then you're ready to paint it. That'll give you a new ceiling, with no patches in it.

looks like there is nothing supporting the old ceiling you should cut back the ceiling to the nearest joist and screw it up tight, take the new plasterboard down and replace with longer board so the 2 edges are on the same joist hopefully they are now level to a mm or 2 then skim it

Cheers, bigger job than I had in mind that!!

Looks to me it’s been double boarded with the second boarding being insulated plaster board

It hasn't, just maybe looks it from pic.

Joists and a few noggins are supporting the ceiling where needed.

how so? i can not see one screw or nail along the edge the edges of the two boards need to be fixed onto the same joist which is why you should cut back
Hi stevethespreader,

Joists run across but can't be seen on pic, they are holding the ceiling up honest!

I am going to sleep on the options, thanks for the tips.

I've done some digging on the the texture front and people have used joint compound to good effect, may try that.

Easi fill a decent product to use I take it? Lots of posive reviews on that stuff.
