I want to add a half meter or so plastic pipe to this fitting (so that my washing machine drainage pipe will reach) but I'm confused as to which size pipe and fittings I need to look for.

The actual diameter of the pipe is around 30mm but I can only find fittings for 32mm and the couplings on the 32mm fittings look much bigger than the one already in place.

The pipe looks the same size as the overflow pipe but a search for overflow pipe dimensions gives me 21.5mm.

I know I can just get an extension pipe for the washing machine but I'd like to do it properly as the join won't be accessible.

Thanks for your help!

The spigot that you're trying to connect too is not designed for rigid pipework. A waste extension for the washing machine is ok as long as the join in the waste is made properly and the waste pipe runs at high level and drops down to the spigot.

As newboy says. You can get a hose extension kit at any DIY store

Thanks very much.

Can you recommend any fixings for the waste pipe?

You want one of these plus a couple of jubilee clips

Just search for a washing machine drain hose connector.
