The Baltic nations are scared of expansionist Russia trying to bring them back into Vlad's new Soviet Empire, so will treat the Trumper's lack of understanding very cautiously. I wonder if he says the same to Ukraine. Perhaps he means that Ukrainians are stupid.

Russia could be scared of an expansionist NATO, the Baltic states were Nazi collaborators in the last war, Latvia could be the next powder keg, Latvian Nationalists have passed laws to force the Latvian language on their Russian speaking minority,the Russian government has imposed sanctions on Latvia.
The EU has been formenting Nationalism in the Baltic states, this is leading to the alienation of Russian speaking minorities in the Baltic states which is leading to demands for Russia to intervene to protect their rights, As Latvia is a member of Nato and the EU, NATO will be obliged to defend Latvia if Russia tries to intervene on behalf of their Russian speaking minority.
It will all end in tears for all concerned.

The BBC is Russophobic, they never broadcast any thing positive about Russia they are the mirror image of RT when it comes to reporting on Russia.
Like RT's coverage of the West the BBC picks up on the negative aspects of Russian life and politics while not entirely false they give a distorted view of reality.
According to the BBC Russian criminals who come here aren't really criminals they are 'politcal dissidents' or 'Putin critics' who have been fitted up by the ' Putin regime' .
