I’m thinking of building a brick built shed and then over cladding the 2 visible sides with some nice timbers.

Question is what blocks would best suit this sort of build and is a single skin okay?

Thanks in advance!

do you mind if the shed is cold and damp?

John, I fully we’ll know a twin skin cavity wall will be much better but this is a shed. No need for it IMO. A couple of vents to keep air circulating will do me fine. Just really want to know from one of the pros if a medium block would be okay seams it’s single story.

Cheers.

I have such a thing in my back yard, I think it used to be a foreman's shed or similar when this plot of land was a pig farm. It's single skin clay brick with a pitched tiles roof, and combo of timber frame and uPVC. It is cold and damp. But it's not cold and draughty and damp, as a timber shed would be. It does shed type jobs. It's for putting garden tools, BBQ, bikes, logs, benches etc in. There is a solid fuel stove in there too, never used it though.

Have a correct DPM and you'll do fine.
