Anyone else, like myself, horrified by the atrocities carried out by Catholic priests over the centuries? The more I look into this religion the more I think it sucks. Persistent abuse of young boys by people pretending to be "followers" of god. It appears that the "church" has tried to cover this up and by doing so assisted the continual abuse of numerous children. In years gone by thousands of innocent babies have been murdered in the name of "God" buried in unmarked graves in churchyards, monasteries etc etc. Lets keep this on topic. This is not about Islamists, Brethran, Mormans, Baptists, etc etc.

How far back do you want to go? Infant sacrifice? (not by the Catholic Church, obviously)
Which other cultures do you wish to delve into? How about Polynesian culture? (Pitcairn islands)? Some of the 'relevant' culture was imported by missionaries.

Why you picking on catholic priests , happens with all religions, all nations.

None, just Catholicsm. It's probably the biggest elephant in the religious room and never gets a mention hardly. Joking aside if I had mentioned Polynesians someone would have mentioned their skin colour etc etc.

Absolutely. Jews next for chopping their boys willies down, JWs for refusing blood transfusions and not doing xmas.

It happens where there are gatherings of vulnerable children whether that be a gymnastics meeting or football training, a care home or a children's hospital.

All these sickos need is for the child to be alone.
You forgot the most frequent location, in the home.

Granted this report was over 10 years ago:
The popular image of the Pacific region is of a peaceful paradise. However, in reality the Pacific is not idyllic for the girl child, who is often subjected to various forms of violence, ranging from violent punishment at home and school, to domestic violence and sexual abuse and exploitation...
The legal age at which girls can marry in the Pacific is usually between 14 and 16 years old. However, in some countries, such as PNG, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, customary law remains very strong in some parts, and allows girls to be married at puberty – at around 12 or 13 years old.

But more importantly they wish to get a position of power and trust in order to carry out the abuse.
And the more power and influence a person has, the less likely they are to be caught!

what is behind the abuse Catholic priests commit?

is it driven by frustration due to celibacy.....or is it that Catholic priests are paedophiles......or some other reason
