Can someone please provide recommendations on a decent weedkiller please?
This isn't for weed growing amongst the lawn or plants. It's in areas where I want to kill all of the weed in mass. e.g. driveway and in front of my garden wall.

Thanks in advance.

Glyphosate, of course.

The patent has expired now, so although you can, if you wish, buy it at a high price under the trade name "Roundup" or "Resolva" you can also buy it under numerous other names, including "Glyphosate"

Own brands are cheapest. It is a generic chemical. Just look at the small print on the back.

A 2-litre bottle of the concentrate, that you mix with water before use, is better value than buying a small bottle of the dilute spray.

It is best to get a red watering can to apply weedkiller, that you don't use for watering plants and possibly getting chemical residues on them. A fine rose is suitable. A sprayer can be used but the mist is much more likely to drift onto plants or lawns you want to keep.

You water it onto the foliage, where it is absorbed. It doesn't poison the ground, and is inactivated by garden soil. If you are careful, and it's not windy, you can water it onto ground around shrubs, bushes, trees, roses etc.

Thanks for the prompt response. Is the cheaper version available from Screwfix/Toolstation by any chance?

You can get glyphosate from places like Wilkinsons, Tescos, B&Q, Screwfix etc

Avoid "ready to use" where you are paying for the added water.

Observe the price and the "square metres coverage" to establish best value

Thanks guys. I brought this Rosate product as per your recommendations.
The blurb in the site and reviews raise questions on how it should be diluted. Can I please get your views on this. I will wear gloves and be sensible (not luck or drink it!). Any other tips gratefully received. Thanks again

You cannot buy decent weed killer in a normal shop these days since the idiots, and the clowns that support them, in the EU took any proper poison out of weed killers. Go talk to a farmer.

If you bought the one Hertsdrainage gave you the link, then it says 20ml per 1ltr of water on the ebay page. That's also what was written on the bottle of the Rosate360 I've used.

Dilution depends on whether you will apply it with a sprayer or a watering can.
Stronger with a sprayer, weaker with a watering can.

I will be using a watering can. Would the 20ml per 1l of water apply in this case?

Yes, be perfect. You sure it doesn't say it on the bottle?

If applied too strong, I think it just kills the plant before it has time to reach the roots, and of course some weeds can come back nice and strong with even the slightest bit of root left behind.

The bottle will arrive this week but I've read in many reviews that the instructions are not very clear.
