Hi all.

i have seen examples of making tables by pouring epoxy resin over items such as small logs etc. where can i buy this stuff and how easy is it to do?

i am looking to make a breakfast bar (1.5m x 900mm) with a clear resin and beach stones/pebbles. I was thinking of making a box 40mm deep and filling it with the stones and then adding epoxy resin......i don't know where to buy it or how much it would cost. I don't know if it would be suitable/strong enough or if it would be too heavy!

thanks in advance - Eddy

A rough conversion to inches with the measurements you've given:

35x59x2"=4130"3

4130x0.163=673.19 litres

We'll presume that's 673.19kg

Easy composites 32kg clear resin kit is £375

21x32=672 - 32 x 375 = £12000

No, not cheap.

Of course you'd have to remove volume replaced by wood or natural material, it has a short pot life, it's hard to work, hard to machine without the proper tools, and I personally think it's boring; but it's not my kitchen.

I'd imagine you can get much more for much less if you shop about.

1500mm*900mm*40mm is 54,000,000mm³, so it's 54 litres.

This supplier says their epoxy has a 1.16 g/cm³ density, so you'd need 62.64 kilograms. (without the other stuff you're putting in)

i have made a box out of polypropylene to fill with stones and then pour water over to calculate the amount of resin needed....i will keep you informed.....

i am looking forward to seeing if iot works! the box i have currently made is a smaller version 900x300x40mm deep but the same principles.

Have you watched the YouTube vids? Good ones are the live edge river tables.... like the idea of making one of those. Similar to your project with lots of tips like using a blow torch to get rid of bubbles. Lots of photos please
