New patio problems - snags??

We've recently had some work done and were quoted 2-3 weeks to finish. Raised garden area with sleeper borders (we supplied sleepers) which was then turfed - no problem with that part of the job, all good.

Patio (36sqm) slightly different story. We're going into week 7 tomorrow and the job still isn't finished. We've been away on holiday for the last two weeks and were told it would be finished before we got home.

Looks like they've rushed it all to be honest. The guys have been off and on working on multiple jobs and I personally think it shows in the finish. Going slightly mad at this point but am I being overly harsh in thinking the finish is poor??

We all closely inspect jobs on completion, but you'll never look so closely again. Are you as critical of the brick mortar in your wall (perhaps you haven't looked closely at it before)? I appreciate its not a brilliant job, but I'd likely be putting a plant pot beside the step and have forgotten any inconsistencies inside a few months. Also if they have to pull it up, will it be useable again - and how long would it take? Then again, I'm non-confrontational

Yes I have to say when I viewed the photos it was the state of the existing building that struck me, mind you it looks like they've dislodged the door cill as they appear to be touching it with the patio?

As it turns out the flags are moving and water pushing up through the gaps. Wouldn't mind but I only noticed by accident when I was putting stuff in the shed and heard a squelching noise.

as i said ,its a very poor job.
hopefully you haven't paid yet.

the people who did this paving Wont be able to do it right, they have already shown their lack of ability.

As for comment about your house bricks ? Lol ffs
if you have paid for this then its a case of cut your losses and get someone who can lay this type of paving to sort it out.

the water squelch is a very bad sign, wrong bedding and the jointing is appalling.

good luck, but i think you know already its a poor job, and hassle to follow.

Cheers for the replies - I haven't paid anything yet and won't be doing. The flags weren't cheap at £45sqm.There's more than a couple of dodgy laid ones too so I'd only be waiting for the rest to lift or move, just glad I'd spotted it before paying anything.

They may be ok with turf but ive met many so called paving specialists.
Sadly they are seldom what they claim.
