Its certainly not from some religious text.
There are number of studies that come to different figures, but they are mostly between 5-6 million people, so to question DP's figure is a bit pointless, as it does not change anything in what he/she says in the above posts.

it is only normal and within the bounds of psychological interpretation...there are usually deep seated fears involved or the inability to interiorise personal defeats...
