Hi
Not sure if this is the right section to post?

I want to to have a small multi fuel stove fitted. A lot of the work has already been carried out by someone else (insulated liner fitted & register plate, surrounding stonework in good order etc). Stove and all fitting parts are on site, basically just need a HETAs engineer to hook up stove/pipe/adaptor/liner & sign it off.

Roughly what price am I looking at for getting someone in to do this, rather than DIY it?

Cheers,

you need to tell building control before you start the installation for them to get it certified at your cost
or have the work done by a hetas registered engineer
part "j" i think it is

Can vary quite a bit, get three quotes , assumes the work already done is up to spec.

Will building control want to have a look before work commences, or just when it's complete?

it was inform before you do anything you have nearly finished
you can ask them but may cause you problems ??

Did you take a series of pictures at various stages of the part install so you can show it was done to an acceptable standard along with receipts for material.I wasnt heatas registered but got installs signed off by BC this way.

I think you are too late with this one. The first install I did in my house was a self-install and I erroneously believed you had to contact the council when complete (for sign off). They specifically told me they need a visit on-site prior to works commencing.

With that installation, I decided to leave getting building control involved and went ahead with no certifcation. It's been in nearly 2 years and the flue gets swept twice a year by the sweep.

Should having no certificate for it be a problem when I come to sell the house (which I doubt), I'll simply disconnect it.
