Hi,

I have an issue with my boiler which consists of it making a hissing noise and pressure meter going up when the central heating is on.

I haven't tested what happens when the pressure is extremely high as I turn it off before it goes above 3 bars.

The central heating is not working but hot water is. Thing about hot water is that when I turned the tap on today I had rusty water come out and then steam for some time, this has stopped now and hot water seems to work properly.

Additionally, the last couple of time I had central heating on I could hear loud banging of the pipes a couple of times, not often.

sounds like your expansion vessel needs re-pressurizing lots of explanations of how to do it in the FAQ section

If in fact it is a problem with the expansion vessel then would it be safe to use hot water at least?
