Plastering Garage Wall

Hi All,

Very new to DIY so been experimenting the last few months with doing my own job.

I currently have a garage which has all walls plastered apart from wall on connecting to the outside as it is just breeze block.

I am turning my garage into a Cinema room but first want to plaster this wall so it looks more like a room initially.

The garage is quite cold at the moment as it just has a normal up and over garage door so am looking to either change that or cover the gaps some how.

I have also bought some timber for battening the wall in prep for fitting some insulation (loft type) and then plaster boarding. What I am wondering however is will a lot of the cold be coming from this wall with it just being a bare wall so will need insulating or can I just use the dot and dab approach without battening or insulation.

Dot and dab won’t add much insulation.

If you heat the room you may end up with damp/mould trouble on that wall.

Cheers for that.

I did read up on potential mould and damp problems.

So I am presuming doing the batten wall and insulation will not only make the room likely warmer but remove and any potential damp/mould from happening

That’s how I understand it. It will stop the cold and warm air meeting on the plasterboard.
