Meaningful vote No3

It was a joke but I knew it would get you flapping.
There seem to be quite a few soi-disant comedians on this forum.

They usually identify themselves as such after they've been criticised for some utter nonsense that nobody found funny.

Or it was just a joke.

There appears to be three ways to get a 3rd MV
1. Prorogue Parliament, and start a new session. Highly improbable due to time constraints. But could be possible in an extension of Article 50.
2. MPs vote to disregard the 'convention'. That means two motions, one to overturn Speaker's ruling, and then another on the 3rd MV. Each motion could be subject to other amendments. Possible, but risky. No likelihood of success.
3. Bring back a substantially different motion. Highly unlikely. Surely the same Deal, under an extension could not be considered as 'substantially different'.

I'm sure that our friends in EU are just as informed about Parliamentary processes, and the possibility of success, if they grant a short extension.

Farage's silly bus-march is coming to Doncaster.

Watch carefully or you'll miss it.

Even Farage hasn't bothered to participate

"The march is due to travel between Nostell near Wakefield to Doncaster on Thursday with a second leg from Wadworth to Worksop on Friday.

However, it is not known if former UKIP leader Mr Farage will be leading the march himself.

He began the protest in Sunderland on Saturday but it is understood he has not taken part in the march since then. It is due to culminate in a mass protest in Westminster on March 29 – the day Britain is scheduled to leave the EU.

As Leave and Remain supporters clashed at the start of the two-week long protest in torrential rain, when asked if Mr Farage would be completing the whole 270 mile route he replied: “Some of it.”

The cat called Brexit:
It miaows like billy-o to go out. Then when the door is opened, it sits there, on the mat, looking outside, but refuses to go!

Heard it on the news.

Some Europeans think that's what's going on. They haven't all grasped that about half the voters wanted to leave, and about half wanted to stay, and there has never been a consensus on what to do, because no agreed plan or objectives have ever been agreed.

Or, to be more precise, half wanted to stay, three-eights wanted a sensible brexit, and one-eighth wanted an insane Brexit. Sadly Theresa has sold her soul in a hopeless attempt to appease the insane Tories.

I gather from the news, from a letter sent to all EU leaders, that TM is looking for a two year extension.
I don't think it's been verified yet.

Edit: just been checking and John's subsequent update is more accurate.

No doubt she would have informed Parliament

Oh, no, it's STBXPM Theresa.

Nope, no agreement on what to do.

"Theresa May is writing to the EU to ask for Brexit to be postponed until 30 June with the option of a longer delay, cabinet sources say.

One minister told the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg there was "no agreement" around the cabinet table.

Another source expressed frustration that the prime minister did not make a clear indication of the option she would actually argue for.

Under current law the UK will leave the EU with or without a deal in 10 days.

The prime minister says the UK will need a short extension to get the necessary legislation through Parliament, if MPs back her withdrawal deal.

She has warned Brexiteer Tories a longer extension will be needed if the deal does not get through Parliament - but any delay will have to be agreed by all 27 EU member states.

Downing Street sources said there was no final decision at cabinet on the length of an extension."

You may know that many European leaders have lost all patience with the UK government that is incapable of saying what it wants.

She is probably choosing the option least likely to get voted for by the Eu.

Then she can say vote for my deal or you will end up with no deal -and its the fault of the EU not mine.

It looks like they're going to play hardball.
Germany's Europe minister, Michael Roth, said they needed a "concrete proposal" from the UK on why an extension is required, while France's Europe minister Nathalie Loiseau said more time was "not a solution".
Michel Barnier also said that concrete proposals for use of the time is required. It's pointless granting more time if the UK cannot lay out a definite proposal for the way forward. He stated that the uncertainty costs to EU must be respected.

Buffon and Raab are eyeing up the best time to switch to pro-deal that will win them the most tory support for the forthcoming leadership election.

Time for game play / blackmail. *if* for some unspecified reason it is thought we are better out, as has been demonstrated that appears not to be the case. We, to perhaps the initial delight of the EU say we're revoking A50, but then shortly after that, inform them that absolutely everything from the EU will be vetoed. Accepted, this is unconstructive, highly childish, very very contrary to the EU principles of co-operation, but it would be the only way, as eventually the UK would be asked to leave, at which point it is much better placed to dictate it's terms. I do not advocate this irresponsible approach.
