a short length of guttering about half a metre long was attached, by a corner piece, to the main length running alongside one side of the roof .It was there to direct rainwater onto the sloping tiled roof, in fact i had one at both ends of the guttering and now there is only one after the strong winds we recently had .As the corner piece was broken I bought a new one and attached that to the corresponding lengths of guttering .Unfortunately two days later the short length came down again after another gale so i am wondering if there is an adhesive I can use that will create a stronger bond. The original corner piece did have some white adhesive but I have no idea what that was .Most of the available adhesives appear to be fillers designed to repair leaks so i am not sure they would be suitable.Any suggestions? Thanks

looking at my neighbour's houses who live in similar chalet bungalows, none have the short lengths of guttering attached to an elbow joint that i have, probably because of the gales we are subjected to

Pictures? Sounds like it might need more support brackets if possible.
I have uploaded a photo of the side of the guttering which is still fixed (1st) and the one where the piece detached

Why is there a gutter there? I cant see from the pictures the purpose it serves.

I assume it is to stop the rain water from falling at each end off the gutter down the wall. Instead it is directed onto the tiled slopes on each side of the roof. There is no down pipe

I can't really make head nor tail of it TBF, from the photos that pipe is at the top of the guttering? Probably being thick here.

Going by the pic I'm not getting the purpose any of the gutter is serving as it looks to be sitting on the apex of a duo pitched roof.
Maybe a picture from further back would help.

Duo pitch or barn end roof - a small triangle of roof. Both ends look like the brackets are too close to the fascia board and the gutter is bent out . Maybe the triangle of roof is so small that the water off it when raining is such that you would not be inconvenienced by it . See how it goes with the gutter taken out of the brackets:idea:

The houses opposite are almost identical to mine.As you can see there is a short run of guttering at the base of a short slope in the roof although i must admit i cannot see that they have two shot lengths of guttering running from the elbows at each end
