Even less attention paid by the driver........

Who will be liable, when the clever car crashes on your behalf?

Tricky.

All we do know is suddenly there will be loads of no win no fee lawyers becoming specialists. So may not who will be liable, but we will know who will make all the money.

I like what the AA guy said at the end of the report, "Dodgem cars are all fitted with speed limiters but they still seem to crash."

Got it in a nutshell. It's not the vehicle it's the person in charge of the vehicle.

Here's me thinking it couldn't get any worse than "smart" motorways.

Obviously using technology to reduce accidents is good, but speed limiters or warnings is not necessarily the solution.

I wonder if the companies developing the technology have powerful lobbyists in Brussels.......

I wonder why the Brits seemed to place a lid on the concept > 18 yrs ago.

'...Other measures agreed by the EU include making data recorders mandatory to help investigate vehicle crashes and assist research into increased safety. ...
...The package of measures needs to be ratified by the European parliament, which is likely by September....'

About time ! But wait ! How to replace the speed camera income, leave to acting PM May she'll shelve it.

I cant see how that can be anything but positive -its an option for insurance anyway.

Future generations will have cars controlled by technology I imagine. People will look back at history and say 'gosh back in the dark ages, people had control of their cars and people died every day from crashes' :ROFLMAO:

I saw this on the news this morning. Also somewhere in the South East the council has issued a licence to a guy with 40 snakes, a guy with a monkey and one with a crocodile.

I've said in conversation there will be a point when all insurance firms insist on it.

However I just don't like the idea of it. Could be a tool to be used to issue fines for what might be just an oversight. We're all human after all.

Unfortunately I'd imagine there will be a lot of instances in the future where people in the past had control of something, anything and lost it to government.
