If you were to order qty 1 of the item below. What would you expect to arrive?

1m length?

Yep you guessed it!

I was expecting qty 1 x 100m reel!

Suppose I should have noticed that they had only charged me 15p for it.

I have just ordered some paint on line too. It is listed as 5 litres and I have also ordered qty 1. I wonder if they will open up the tin and send me one litre of paint in a bag ;)

Its better than the reverse ins't it... the delivery driver wanting to know where you want the pallet of 100 drums putting!

You would not normally expect them do do cut lengths of something so small, quite often the description would read, xyz cable 1M length (In drums of 100m) and you could order only whole multiples of 100

To be fair, it did state the price for 100 metres, and also the price for 1 meter. But I've noticed that it's common now to give the price for an item, and also the price per kg or meter for comparison, so thought this was the case here too. As the description specifically states 100M and not 1M I expected 100M. Anyway I live and learn.

I did the reverse, wanted some ball bearing for starter motors, I knew they were sold in packs of 100, so ordered 100 ball bearings, I got 100 packs of 100 ball bearings, each started motor has 6 ball bearings, however since in Falklands at the time, they were not returned.

I once bought glazing shims from a trade supplier -I ordered 1 box of thousand.

Yup you guessed it :ROFLMAO:

I did wonder at the time whether the person doing the picking / packing didnt care or did it for a wind up.

And dont put the model number in the quantity box :

What a bizarre thread, the original ad was for 100M, how could anyone translate this into 1M.

wanted some ball bearing for starter motors,

A bit of balls up then ?

Similar thing with Belgium chocolate for use in developing a machine for producing an ice cream product. Eating the excess chocolate was great... but after a week it put one off chocolate for a while.

Am I missing owt? It says 100m...
To be fair, and as has been admitted, if one scrolls to the right of what stem posted in his OP, one sees...

.... although the item is, indeed, described as "100m", it is apparent from the above that there has to be a way of specifying the "quantity" as a number of metres if one is buying (less than 100m) "per m" - and the only rational explanation is that one is expected to enter the quantity as "100" if one wants a whole reel.

I think that anyone who regularly orders things online from TLC will understand that this is how "it always works" on their site - but it is clearly a "mistake waiting to happen" for anyone unfamiliar with the site. It would only take a small note next to the "quantity" box to resolve this. I wonder if stem has moaned to TLC?

Kind Regards, Johnxxx

@JohnW2 I did see the two figures, but like I said earlier, it's common now to see prices given for an item, and also the price per kg or meter for comparison.

For example.

As I was only interested in buying 100m didn't take any notice of the smaller figure. Although if I had done the maths, I suppose I should have noticed that 100m at £0.15 doesn't equal £6.50

And yes I did complain to TLC their reply was:

"You have ordered 1 metre of bell wire, that has been cut from a 100m coil."

They also say they sent me this email before despatch, but I never received it, or saw a missed call either for that matter.

On a positive note, the paint arrived.....

.....yet despite me ordering qty 1 here also, I did get the full 5 litres! (y)

I was worried I might get 1 litre of paint in a plastic bag with the explanation: "You have ordered 1 litre of paint, that has been taken from a 5 litre tin."
