Could well be that the "nutter" was someone opposed to promulgating the ideas of unity and living well together.

If the report you linked to is accurate, then it was a rule about getting permission whuhc the council invoked.

Maybe the one complaint came from the St George's Cross driver who knew the rules. Or, as you say, some other random nutter.

Surely he can apply for permission, and cite the St George's Cross in another taxi as precedent for being allowed?

Don't see the difference myself, though they come under different rules. I suspect if he reads the rules (as I did) he can work out that he can appeal on the basis that it is not Livery (advertising his business or someone elses).

I see this as a man showing a unity and a love for his adopted country. If this is down to licencing, then the licence man needs to pull his pants up and get out more.

Perhaps you could show him, it's a policy/licensing decision and isn't discrimination.
