Was thinking of using a slab for my BBQ coals instead of a tray ????? Thoughts ??
I don't know if bbq coals get hot enough, but my old boss told me when he was an apprentice they occasionally pointed an acetolene torch at concrete paving slabs to make them pop and spall.

Firebricks would be fine, and you'll need them for your pizza oven anyway so order a few more for the BBQ.

Watching with interest as an outside kitchen is on my projects list too. Good luck, keep us updated!
 
Asked around and apparently because it is open the heat shouldn’t be too bad !!!

They are ludicrously heavy. Although I was surprised at the weight it shouldn’t have been too much of a shock. I’ve only recently broken myself moving some old 2” thick 3’x2’ slabs. Seeing as the base of the oven alone is 3” thick and 3’4” square, then with a load of tile, brick and render on top the thing packs some serious weight.

Did you cure it as per instructions ??? And use the resin ?? Doesn’t say whether to paint it on when it’s cold or hot when the cracks will be at their widest ??
