Velux window fitting

Hi all. New to this forum but I’m hopeful I can gain some advice.
I’ve recently had a velux window fitted by a proclaimed roofer in my house (new build circa 2010) in order to provide a simple attic roof window.
The roof is a trussed roof construction and following the window fitting I’ve realised that the builder removed a rafter section in order to fit the velux window (it was slightly wider - 780mm) than the rafter dimensions.
He has framed around the rafters and window but I’m now extremely concerned following lots of googling that he has cut a section of rafter out in a trussed roof.
I asked him about this and he assured me it’s normal practice to fit velux windows but I’m not convinced.
I’m now left panicking that he may have trashed my roof...
As I see it if he has removed a section of rafter when he shouldn’t have my only option would be to go plan B and re install that rafter section at the jointing plates (they are in 2 sections due to the length) or repair the rafter using a sister system then fit a narrower velux instead which goes between the rafters.
Am I worried unnecessarily or do I have to revert to plan B QuickTime in order to reinstate the cut rafter?
Also are there any issues with the repair/ replacement as stated now that the integrity of the roof may have been stressed (there are no obvious signs of any roof sag etc).
Any advice would be much appreciated as I’m a tad concerned to say the least!

You roof won't fall down. What he has done is wrong, amateurish (at best) and should not be in the trade. Your roof works as one unit regards the minimal sizing of the rafters, the spacing and the bracing.
A keen surveyor will pick up what you have done and will likely condemn your roof with all the drama that goes with his fee.

I would seek SE advice and carry out sensible remedial work to the rafter using appropriate timber and fixings.

Any chance of a photo of how he braced the roof with extra timber?

Noseall. Thank you for your reply and advice. I will gain advice on reinstating the rafter. Would it be feasible to do that as a DIY er as it looks straight forward to replace a like for like piece of rafter or is it going to entail structural engineer advice?

Your truss rafter has been compromised and is now useless. The removed piece may have effected how the bracing works too. You may be able to do the remedial stuff yourself as long as you understand the terminology and that the SE is unlikely to babysit you through the process.

Begs the question. Why are you installing a Velux in a truss roof?
