Asbestos in schools crisis

Hi everyone,
I have seen an article on the news about asbestos crisis in schools, and over 700 schools have been reported to the HSE about it. Seems quite worrying for teachers, school staff, and present and former pupils. Has anyone got concerns about this?

Not really, no.

Yes i would be, i think more so as a long term teacher at said school but still concerned for the pesky kids.

Notice when I picked my daughter up from after school art club theres a big notice in the reception.

"All tradesmen must view the Asbestos folder before commencing works".

They must have had a full school survey done at some point..

Certainly every school does, and it's either reviewed wholesale every 3 years, or bit by bit over a rolling 3 year period. The vast majority of all asbestos in schools is treated on a 'leave-it-alone' basis. Not something that worried me day to day.

Most public buildings of age have asbestos . Just the way it was .

There are more important things to worry about in life than inert asbestos. Thomastpps obviously runs an asbestos surveying company so has in interest in causing hysteria.

haha, I don't run a surveying company but I do have an interest in Asbestos and run courses on the subject.

Thanks to Trump Asbestos may make a comeback in the US. Cant wait till Brexit and we burn all these stupid regulations. You see its regulations that has held us back, just look at all those third world countries with no regulations powering ahead.

Maybe the new regs will be written on asbestos, that'll fireproof 'em.
