i purchased the mixed screws from srewfix - Turbo gold & Turbo silver, they had them on offer , nice cases where you can take out the holder.
I think over the lsst year, i have used all the sizes - only a DIYer, but used on fences and various items around the home, windows seat, flooring.
I also found some good priced screws at lidl, and have used them for making a gate.
all seem OK

recently purchased a load of screws from Lidl - torx head - very cheap , purchased 4 different sizes about 200 in a plastic case and used various so far, used on a home made gate - seemed to be good quality

Get some pan heads too, get so annoyed when I see CSK's used in the wrong application (OCD)

Another thing I found confusing initially was that it seems wood screws are just general purpose screws. If you're fixing something to a wall with rawlplugs etc, you use wood screws.

They're fairly cheap and it's annoying when you run out of the right screws mid-job, so I have a box of most sizes, must be 25 boxes or so. When a box gets low I add it to the list and next time I'm in screwfix I pick up replacements. Can't think there's many sizes that don't get used.

I'm moving over to torx heads now as the bits last longer.

What's this weird stuff about impact drivers? Can't imagine why you wouldn't use one, they're brilliant. Did laugh at the person preferring slot heads so they can use a big screwdriver on 4 inch screws, I'm amazed they even make those these days.

There are some gorillas out there that think the switch is just an off on affair. I suppose they may have single speed impacts. Never had much of an issue with them. I put flat pack together with them, which is not generally advised.

Agreed.

I used to keep 30, 40, 50, 100mm usually. I didn't think I was missing anything really, but then got 25, 60, 70, 80mm as well, and find I get through a decent amount.

Impact driver all the way, I use it for 50% of all screw work easily. Only if the work is a bit delicate, or near an end that may split, do I revert to the combi.

I actually wonder how people got anything done before electricity, I suppose you'd use nails for most of the stuff I screw together these days.

Not sure about these metric lengths though, it's odd as I'm 100% post metrification, but I can't understand those numbers, I'm fully imperial when it comes too screws.

I keep 3/4" to 4" in 1/4" increments in sizes 8 and 10, with 12s from 2.5" upwards, 6s from 1" down and I ahve some 4 x 0.5" and 0.75" too.

You only have to look at older floors and stud walls - everything is nailed.
