Hi all, I have just come to realise that my scantronic 9600 is around 30 years old which is quite incredible. I have always replaced the battery in the panel and the bellbox every 5 years. I know most would say get it ripped out, it belongs in a museum. It is still working well to this day, however sometimes when exiting engineer mode it sometimes freezes which means i need to power it down mains and battery to get it back up and running. It still retains its memory so nothing is lost.
Providing i keep the system maintained how long can i reasonably expect it to last before it kicks the bucket? Or is it impossible to say? Can panels just fail on their own even if they have been well maintained?
Thanks

impossible to say.

I have seen panels months old fail and ones 30/40 years old panels still going.

Like all things if its maintained it has abetter chance than most of lasting a long time.

There are too many variables.

Yes like everything it ages, and its possible a component may fail even though its been well maintained.

Thanks, i can appreciate its a bit like asking how long is a piece of string, I guess we will have to wait and see. Worst case scenario, what would be a suitable replacement for a scantronic 9600? Something with equal power capacity and zones?
Thanks
