C4 Dispatches - US Pharma want us to pay more for Drugs in any trade deal

What benefit is there in paying £27bn more for the same set of drugs?

That's nearly 4 times the cost of EU membership.

That needs to be put on a bus.

The kicker is this.

The dispute resolution process is proposed to be the normal one for US trade deals: Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) -- the US-based courts that did for the TTIP trade deal. This is the truly expensive bit. Should any UK government ever decide to do something that impacts on US corporate profits, then the US corporates have an unarguable case for compensation. So, if we should ever change our minds about how we buy drugs, we owe US Pharma the difference in prices even if we no longer buy from them.

it's of huge benefit to the drug companies, and to private insurers and clinics who will charge cost-plus.

look at the american system. Everybody involved - Insurers, hospitals, doctors, politicians who receive huge bribes, sorry, donations, benefits from high prices.

The only losers are insignificant people; patients and taxpayers.

Jeremy C Hunt is well known for his admiration of the profits to be made from privatised healthcare.

Tax-dodger Richard Branson, for example, is domiciled in the tax-haven of the Virgin Islands, and pays no income tax. Virgin Care receives huge revenue from the UK taxpayer. Do you think it pays any Corporation Tax?

But But it's those nasty Europeans. We bankrupted the students with debt and now it's high time we bankrupted the rest of the population with healthcare debt.

I see Brexxers awfully quiet, yet they still want this madness to happen.

In addition, the court process that was proposed for TTIP (and which will no doubt be part of a US-UK 'deal') is a secretive one!

Even the UK government acknowledged this before the EU scuppered it...
(Camoron and the tories were trying to force TTIP through before an embarrassing u-turn in order to try and stay in power)

TTIP: UK Government found secret courts in trade deal have 'lots of risk and no benefit' in its only assessment

"Secret courts to be introduced under the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership will have "few or no benefits to the UK", according to the only official assessment of the deal commissioned by the UK Government.
The warning was disclosed in response to a Freedom of Information request by anti-TTIP campaigners Global Justice Now...

The deal could give corporations the power to sue governments when they pass regulation that could hit firms' profits through these secret courts of ISDS.

United Nations figures show US companies have made billions of dollars by suing other governments nearly 130 times in the past 15 years under similar free-trade agreements.
Details of the cases are often secret, but notorious precedents include tobacco giant Philip Morris suing Australia and Uruguay for putting health warnings on cigarette packets."

So you want to deny your kids and grandkids affordable healthcare.

I hope they dont have complicated births, as costs run into 100ks in the US.
You are a complete tool forever dreaming up doom and gloom and catastrophising everything then asking or accusing brexit heroes of voting specifically for it ..How far are you going to stretch your bolox predictions.

Why are you so stupid?

Its all before you yet you still deny it. Why don't you provide some evidence or reasoning against it?

What is wrong with you?

If the health service is being privatised, it’s because it’s been milked dry by those not entitled to it.
