Valiant turbomax boiler problem help please

I have a Valiant Turbomax combi boiler with a problem.
All the sudden the water pressure out of the hot taps is more powerful than usual but the water goes from hot to Luke warm, really strange, the heating
Works fine.

any ideas ?

Have You had any work carried out recently whereby the stopcock has been opened fully, or has anything happened on your water main? If it’s too powerful to heat then it won’t keep up.

No work has been undertaken, the flow has never been great out of the hot taps to be honest and we did have a heating engineer say that we did need a new heat plate exchanger but that was 6 months ago when he said that, none explains the sudden pressure change thou

Open a hot tap to say half way (thereby restricting the flow yourself) and see if the water temp stabilises at a constant temp.

If it does then 'somehow" your incoming mains pressure and/or flow rate has increased beyond the limit of the boiler's capacity to heat it to the set temp.

This may be due to works carried out by the water board to the supply network in your area... They may have added/replaced pumps to improve the infrastructure.

Also, be advised that your boiler can only increase the incoming supply temperature by a certain amount, and in the colder months (with mains water much colder than in summer) this will result in lower temps at your hot taps.

Try turning your shower temperature control fully to cold, then run the hw from another tap and see if the water is hotter. Sounds like your shower is a passing cold water to the hot circuit.

Yep... Was gonna post: check for crossover but then had to go bloody food shopping

Op: you can also isolate cold supply to your boiler and see if you get water out of a hot tap.

no SHOULD be nothing, if there is, your shower is crossing over, just try it and see it is a very common problem

Its not the mains water supply at a stopcock that you need to isolate ,its the cold feed into the boiler. You need to stop cold water going through the boiler ,but keep cold water still going to all your other taps / shower.
