Boiler kicking in to soon

But it's kicking in when it's reading 20 degrees it is not showing 19.9 it's reading 20. I don't need it switching on at 20 as the house stays at 20 for ages even if heating is turned off. I only want it kicking in if temp drops by 0.5 degrees. It's how I will save money
Sounds like it's working perfectly to me. Most people would complain if their thermostat varied as much as you want it to. Nevertheless, yours may be adjustable. What make & model is it?

I have explained more than once if the heating is turned of it maintains the heat for along time. So I don't need it coming on and off unless it drops below set temp. I have it mounted on wall and don't want to keep having to go check for temp drop or even to carry around with me. If it's left off. It's not how it should work.

Yes and I’ve told you more than once that if the house is not going above 20 all is well. It is working correctly. Where do you think these bursts of heat are going?

..and it has been explained to you why it is probably turning the boiler on and off so frequently.

1. Its in rapidly changing airflow temperature, and..

2. Your boiler is an older cheaper model and has no ability to modulate its output. It can only run at maximum power or off, so it constantly and wastefully cycles at maximum power.

I have constantly told you the air temp is not dropping I have tested it with other thermometers also. Its coming on when it does not need to. Three thermometers are reading 20 degrees. I am watching them as the boiler switches on.

..and what happens if you nudge the stat down to 18C?

AGAIN. Where do you think this “wasted” heat is going? I’ll tell you again. It is replacing the heat losses of the house. If you stop it the house temperature will fall.
Your 3 thermometers may appear to read 20. Can you be sure they are not 19.999?

Go turn off the boiler manually ,when target temp is satisfied at 20 degrees. Then time how long the stat stays at that temp before it starts to drop ,and report back.

If it’s not going above the set temperature, it’s fine. My room thermostat (Honeywell DT90E) will give me probably 6 blasts an hour for a minute or two to maintain the room temperature. It’s meant to do that. I can adjust it but if I have it set at 23° I want it to stay at that - I don’t want it dropping down to 21° before it comes on. Perhaps yours is the same. Your link doesn’t work.

Winston I, have said numerous times that if I turn the boiler of completely the temprature remains steady for a long time. Maybe 7 hours on three thermometers. It would save more money if the gas only came on when eventually it actually does drop under temp.

What hysteresis does it suggest the stat uses?
