Drayton digistat not switching boiler on

Hope someone can help me out.

I have an Alpha 40 boiler. The house is a town house. The ground floor is controlled by its own Drayton. The two upper floors are controlled by a separate Drayton located on the top floor.
The top floor one does not activate the boiler. The flame shows in the display when I up the temp, it clicks but the boiler does nothing.
The ground floor one still works and the boiler comes on.
If I set the upstairs to whatever temp and match that on the downstairs Drayton, the radiators upstairs come on as if they are now controlled from the downstairs. Hope that makes sense.

Both controls are hard wired.

Any idea why the top floor is not activating the boiler as it looks to be fully functional.

Thanks.

You have an S plan with a faulty zone valve or a zone control fault

How would it bring upstairs on at the same time though? Unless the ground floor one has been wired in to operate all floors heating?

Is this something that will be on the main control panel/Pcb on the boiler?

Is it something I can sort or do I need a call out?

Thanks for your reply too.

If I manually set the temp upstairs so the flame shows on the digistat, the boiler should kick in but nothing happens. The boiler is dormant.

If I leave the temp setting as is upstairs then set the temp on the downstairs digistat the boiler kicks in and both upstairs and downstairs rads come on.

If I set the upstairs so it's not on but switch the downstairs on, only downstairs will come on.

If I only use downstairs control it means I have to heat the whole house if I'm wanting to heat upstairs.

I'm having work done on the outside of house right now. I'd been away for a month. On my return I noticed part of the flue on the outside had been taped up, not sure if it was fully covered as lots of tape everywhere which has fallen off the window frames etc due to the weather. I removed the tape and noticed I can pull the flue pipe out if I wanted to. Should this be securely fixed to the inside house part of the flue?

There was also debris and water in the flue, not s lot but enough to possibly get into the boiler.

your flue problems and you zone control are 2 different things, the end switch in the upstairs zone valve is faulty, as for your flue I would advise you get a GSR to look at it sooner rather than later

That is not what he is saying mate

Is the end valve an easy fix for a gas engineer?

I'm not sure but I think it's out of warranty now, typical.

You would probably only have got a 1 year warranty with the zone valve, it is not part of the boiler

the end switch in the upstairs zone valve is faulty,

Thanks mate, So basically, is it when the switch live for the boiler for downstairs has operated, the upstairs valve is not closing properly, so heat is circulated though that as well?

No mate , upstairs valve is opening , but not making the end switch, so boiler not getting a signal to fire, when ground floor zone is asked to call that zone valve sends the signal for the boiler to fire and because the upstairs zone valve was open then the OP gets heat in both zones

Yes that's correct.

So it may just need the valve replacing that is fixed to the pipes?

Yes this is what's happening.

If you can post a pic of the upstairs zone valve you might just be able to swap the actuator
